Welcome to our new blog! So many people have asked me how Wave Your Paw Pet Care came to be, so I thought I’d explain our history.
I started Wave Your Paw Pet Care in May 2015 after working as a manager of a boarding facility for the previous 6 years. I have also been a Certified Veterinary Technician since 2006 and I have been a pet sitter off and on for over 10 years. The boarding facility I managed previously also offered pet sitting and dog walking and when our main sitter moved away, there was an opportunity for me to take a chance on running a business myself.
Many of our clients already knew me from that job which gave Wave Your Paw a chance to hit the ground running! I continued to work part time as a CVT and part time as a sitter until December of 2015, when business got so busy that I left my part time job and started sitting full time. I was also lucky enough to add 3 staff members last winter- Beckie, Miranda, and Tasha.
As the business has grown, we are trying to stay up to date and make life as easy on our clients and staff as possible. We are now using a fantastic pet sitting software which allows each client to access a custom portal to communicate with us, see what is scheduled and request new scheduling, view and pay invoices, and update all information and instructions. We also have a website (www.waveyourpaw.com) that we update regularly, a newsletter that goes out a few times a year with updates and changes, a facebook page (www.facebook.com/waveyourpaw), and this blog.
We also try to keep our services and pricing clear with options for everyone. We charge based on visit length only, without additional charges for extra pets or medications. We also have 3 visit length options (quick, standard, or long) to fit each pets needs and each clients budget.
We are very excited to be part of a new and growing business and we have big plans for the future. We want to be a part of the communities we work in and are participating in many upcoming events. On March 19th, we are sponsoring a coloring table at Tots Rock!, a kids dance party and activity day in the Windom neighborhood of Minneapolis. We are also having a booth at the Minnesota Pet Expo in June at the Minneapolis Convention Center. We are also hoping to be at the Walk For Animals supporting the Animal Humane Society in May, Pet A Palooza in June, and the MN Renaissance Pet Festival in September. Stay tuned!
